On December 25th I spent my Christmas moving from San Francisco to Columbus, Ohio. I was born and raised in Central Ohio, living in the OSU district from age 19 to 32. Then I moved to San Francisco. I lived in SF for over ten years. I moved on August 30, 2001 to begin a more serious relationship with Jello Biafra and to join SFSI (San Francisco Sex Information).

While in Columbus I volunteered for a few years on the hotline, outreach and newsletter for their former sister organization Columbus, Ohio Sex Information. What was supposed to be temporary housing at Biafra's, I ended up living there for nearly 4 years. I moved out and into my studio in the TL and remained there until the 25th. Living at that apartment is the longest period of time I have ever lived in one place.

Moving out has been one of the most traumatic, heart-wrenching, exhausting and brutal experiences for me psychologically. I am so grateful for my friends: Nicole, Marlon, Melinda, Malakkar, the burlesque legend Isis Starr and my she-ro Annie Sprinkle for being there and helping me SO MUCH. I couldn't have done it without your love, strength and goodwill. Thankful too that my father has been an extraordinary source of assistance. He and my family are very glad to have me home.

Why did I move? I have been looking for permanent work for 2½ years. I've had temporary assignments, independent contractor positions and worked very briefly for a very eccentric and verbally abusive elderly multi-millionaire. Then, my unemployment benefits were cut down to $200/week and I didn't feel like I could manage a living in SF on such a low income. Not only was this lack of income and work difficult financially, it took a toll on me emotionally. I moved to give myself a break and do some much needed healing and preservation. I have a meeting with an Executive at Limited Brands in January for a possible job. Right now, I don't care what job I get, as long as I can afford where I am (my rent is A THIRD of what it was in SF).

My life in SF was magical and not only did I make my dreams come true, I exceeded them far beyond anything I could have imagined in Ohio. I am bringing that magic back with me, and continuing it with the scene here. It a progressive and very queer town. There is a lot of art, music and burlesque happening and I'm excited for what the future holds. I am within a day's drive of NYC, Chicago, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Michigan, Tennessee and more. I feel like I have a lot of room for growth with all that surrounds me.

Part of my vast network of support includes my friends and fellow performers. I have moved in with my old roommate in Clintonville with my cat Annie and am looking very forward to being part of the scene here. I already have several performances lined up for the next month. I look forward to reconnecting with old friends and acquaintances and creating new art with them.

Moving

I am moving to Columbus, Ohio.
I can no longer support a lifestyle in San Francisco.
Currently I'm unclear about the date of departure, but I have a plane ticket for December 23rd and it's my goal to be able to have it all packed up by then.

My rent was raised and my unemployment benefits cut in half. Without work, I cannot maintain a living here.

My family is in Ohio and a vast network of support. I have an opportunity to move in with my old roommate and begin working with Viva Valezz, Arturo DeLeon and many others for collaborations and productions.

I have a few performances lined-up in December and I hope you can be there to say "Good-Bye".

- Saturday, December 17th at Center for Sex and Culture for International Day To End Violence Towards Sex Workers. This has always been an important event to me. I have created a group performance that includes myself and up to 8 others. Please email me for more information if you would like to join me.

- Sunday, December 18th at the top of Bernal Hill, at Sunrise. Annie Sprinkle and Beth Stephens are having a Wedding To The Sun as a finale to their Love Art Lab projects over the past seven years. Weather permitting, I will be twirling fire tassels and roasting marshmallows with my tassels as my offering to them and to the Sun. If anyone would like to assist me in minimizing my belongings for the big move, I would really appreciate any assistance. And, of course, you are welcome to help yourself to anything on the donate/sell pile. Here is my ad on Craigslist with details for some of the bigger items.

I am sad to leave this beautiful city. It has brought so much to me for the past ten years. I am also looking forward to re-connecting with old friends and all of the incredible burlesque, music and art that is happening there too.

October was a heavy performance month for me, and included some things that weren't mentioned in my last blog.

For one, I was hired by Bobcat Goldthwait to be the only performer for Robin Williams' bachelor party. They asked me to perform my tribute to Peter Sellers as they wanted funny. After my performance (in the backroom of a restaurant with a dozen comedians), Robin and Bobcat both approached me, thanked me and asked me to stay and have dinner with them, perhaps I could do a second number after dessert. I heard more jokes and great backstage stories than I could ever remember to repeat. And, I had the pleasure of sitting next to Mort Saul. It was a magical night and they were absolute angels to me. Best wishes to you Robin and your new nuptials. Thank you again Bobcat, I'll never forget getting to twirl my tassels for all of you.

For another, my friend Mark Farmiloe, aka Loopus passed away suddenly. He was the singer for the Columbus, Ohio bands Pica Huss and Econothugs. It's taken our entire community by surprise and storm. A group on Facebook was created so people who knew him could share stories, photos and grieve. There are now nearly 800 members of the group, all sharing. Benefit shows for his wife have been planned and many bands are getting back together, raffle items are being donated. Our little family is being re-knit into a tight, lovely circle of misfits. We are all realizing how special and unique our community was, how much good art and music was being created. As part of my grieving process, I created a video. Pica Huss only had a cassette and a split-7 inch with Girly Machine. Thankfully someone uploaded all of the music from the cassette and I was able to download it (I have the cassette, but there are bare spots from playing it so much). I have volunteered to share my many memories and stories of being part of the scene and being one of the writers of an upcoming book about it.

Back to Austin.
I am traveling there for a number of reasons.
1. To celebrate my birthday. It falls on Thanksgiving Day this year. So, in lieu of trying to get people to celebrate my birthday on Turkey Day, I'm celebrating it early and on my own terms.

2. To see the New Bomb Turks perform a reunion show. With families and careers, it's harder and harder to get them together again, and it's usually in Ohio or NYC or Europe. So, I'm taking advantage of them venturing towards the West and getting to check out Austin for the first time too.

3. To see my oldest friend, Chad. Chad and I went to high school together and bonded over our love of weird music. Chad introduced me to Pica Huss and the New Bomb Turks as new friends when he got a job at Singing Dog Records after high school. About the same time I moved to San Francisco, he moved to Tokyo. He moved back to the States after the earthquake and tsunami, and it will be my first time seeing him in many years. I'm really looking forward to us getting caught up.

4. Another old friend that I met in Flagstaff, Ricardo Acevedo lives in Austin now. He just published a beautiful book of his photography, Interloper. He also has an art show at the New East Art Gallery as part of the East Austin Studio Tour 2011 (while I'm there!).

5. I GET TO TEACH WORKSHOPS at Coco Lectric's Austin Academy of Burlesque!!
I am so excited for this opportunity. I will be teaching two workshops on Sunday, November 13th from 3:00 - 6:00pm.

Positively Lovely. A body image workshop open to all sizes, ages and genders of people. Includes a visualization exercise and ends with telling your love story with your body. Inspired by Annie Sprinkle, Candye Kane and Marilyn Wann. Beginning at 3:00pm, the class lasts about an hour, depending on the number of participants. $10.00

Science of Spinning. Teaching Satan's Angel's methods of making pasties with spinners and rolling your own fringe tassels. Also, learn the physics of a well-constructed pastie, the impact of a good tassel and how together they save breast tissue. Class includes all materials. You walk away with a set of pasties, two sets of tassels and a quick lesson how to twirl using isolations (no bouncing). Please bring a glue gun and if you have specific materials you want to use. Class begins at 4:00pm. $25.00

Bob Calhoun (aka Counte Dante) brings a night of reading from wrestlers memoirs.
I will be representing The Fabulous Moolah, reading "First Goddess of the Squared Circle" by Lillian Ellison. A wrestler from the 1950s through to the 90s, she was a contemporary of “Lady Monster”, aka Margie Markoff. Margie was 6’2” and 300 lbs. I found out about this other Lady Monster years after using my name, once the internet became more than a sensation.

Reflection

August was a great month of reflection for me - to see friends perform, go dancing, provide lap dances (SHOWGIRLS at the CASTRO!), see theater, poetry readings and just get caught up. It provided me time to have long phone conversations, make new friends, reconnect, fill in the blanks or make clean breaks.

My job is not without its challenges, but it also affords me time to work in other areas of my life, including healing old trauma. It’s a complicated wheel, but I know that it’s turning and moving forward.

For September the ol’ performance ball is rolling again and I have a FUN line-up of events. I hope you can attend, or give me a call so we can also reconnect and spend quality time together.

Death Card

The Death Card
In Tarot, the death card means significant change. It can mean an actual death, but usually relays that the subject is in a period of major transformation.

Within a period of 24 hours I received news that my Aunt Alice was dying and that I received a new, permanent full-time position working as an Executive Assistant in Pacific Heights for one eccentric no-bullshit entrepreneur.

Alice was a huge inspiration to me as a woman that did not take any bullshit either. She worked as a Playboy Bunny at a club in the 60s, raised three children, had three marriages, lived all over the country and worked for several seasons on a Russian fishing boat in the Bering Sea. She fell in love on this boat with a Russian sailor. Their love challenged their love of country and family and we wondered if she would defect for him.

Before she could make this decision she was diagnosed with lung cancer. She lost 1 1/3 lungs, lymph nodes and had chemotherapy. That was 26 years ago and she immediately went back to school to finish her degree in Russian literature. Graduating Summa Cum Laude at Ohio State University, she taught Russian at OSU for several years.

This last time, going into the hospital again for pneumonia, she told her children that she did not want to come out. Preparations and travel arrangements were made to spend time with her. I flew out, away from my new job, to either spend time with her, or just spend time with family. I did not know if she would still be alive once I arrived. She did not want a funeral or services.

I drove straight from the airport to the hospital and found my cousins at her bedside as she slept. I sat quietly, getting caught up with them, not wanting to wake Alice. While I was there she did wake up, she recognized me, we spoke, saying “I love you” and I showed her a photo of a white peacock I took recently. Her grandmother used to raise peacocks, including some white ones. I didn’t want to wear her out, or take time away from her children so I left. Two hours later, upon the arrival of her son, she passed. The thing that stands out the most for me is her will. She willed herself to live after her diagnosis and all the years since. And, then she willed herself to die. She was only 67.

Because of not knowing my future – if I would be staying in San Francisco or moving out of state, I have not booked myself for any performances. So that is another big change for me. I am contacting producers, so hopefully something opens up.

Now that I have a job, I will have the money to attend shows, travel and be part of the community again. I look forward to seeing more performances, taking classes and SHOPPING!

Broke, not Broken

Currently, I do not have a source of income. Unemployment has dried up. I've applied to about 1000 jobs this past year and no luck yet. Any leads are appreciated. I will move anywhere. I'm not choosy. At this moment I am waiting on pins and needles for an answer after having a good long interview. Please send your good thoughts that I get this full-time permanent job.

I had to decline performing at the Colorado Burlesque Festival this year. I do not have the money to travel. I was accepted to perform for the Friday night showcase. My best wishes to the producers of this fantastic event for a very successful show.

I was lucky enough to spend last weekend in a camper in Boulder Creek for free, located in the Santa Cruz Mountains for the Fourth of July holiday. I was so ready to relax and was in vacation mode before I arrived. Everything about the visit was beautiful and amazing. Then, while walking from the car to the Catalyst, my sandals fell apart. Thanks to my travelmate Elissa, we found a CVS and a $10 roll of duct tape. Soon we were dancing directly in front of The Reverend Horton Heat for an incredlbe 2 1/2 hour show!! Thank you to Annie, Beth, Elissa and Penny Slinger for your comfort, love, hospitality and friendship.

I have a few performances this month that may be my last in SF.

I am featured in photos 1, 12 and 13 from the Sex Worker's Film and Arts Festival event, Get the Money up Front Cabaret that took place on May 27th.

I was accepted to compete in the First^st Annual Dixie Evans' Burlesque Show taking place at The Las Vegas Plaza's COPA SHOWROOM on June 3^rd and 4^th. This is the festival that Dixie Evans, The Marilyn Monroe of Burlesque is sponsoring this year. She is not attending The Burlesque Hall of Fame/Miss Exotic World International Competition (BHoF) taking place the same weekend at The Orleans, also in Las Vegas.

For those not in the burlesque community, there is a LOT of controversy around the two simultaneous festivals. While in Vegas I spent a lot of time with Satans Angel and the filmmakers for the upcoming documentary film about her, SATAN'S ANGEL: THE MOVIE . Please help her finance this film and join her Kickstarter program.

Many are choosing to not choose sides, I am also taking this path. I support Dixie Evans and all her endeavors. I had a fundraiser for the Burlesque Hall of Fame Legends' Challenge because I wanted to do something to help make sure the legends that wanted to attend, could. This year, I had to make a difficult decision to not attend BHoF because of my own lack of finances. Somehow, I am making this work. A lot of PB&J and a new temp assignment that magically appeared.

I hope the burlesque community can rise above the differences of the promoters/producers of the two festivals and just enjoy the art, our community and most of all, the lovely Legends of Burlesque and not hold a grudge against those that provided any support to the Dixie Evans Burlesque Show.

Back in San Francisco, Hellfire Cinema's film, The Craving had its US Premiere at Another Hole In The Head Festival, taking place at The Roxie Cinema in San Francisco. The Craving is a work that I'm proud of because of Val Castro's tenacity and integrity to see her film get made. The cast and crew during production were badass (I was Production Manager and played the role of Fireball). Val and Eddie Granillo worked their asses off in post-production and made a damn fine movie. I got to camp it up, be killed with a frying pan to the head and help make history with this lesbian cannibal horror flick that is loved by Dario Argento. The premiere was Saturday, June 4th.

I HATE TIME!
Time and I have always had a dysfunctional relationship.
We have never gotten along.
Man's concept of time.
Society's constraints.
The myth of Biological Clocks.
None of them are my friends.
I hold no faith in them.
I only need the Sun, the Moon, the Earth and my body
To say what time it is.
Ridicule, abuse, disrespect, anger and guilt
All follow my tardy ways like an umbilical cord that I cannot cut.
Today I smash time.
I conquer this concept of the ticking clock.
No more alarm bells to disrupt our lives.
These concepts will not bring negativity to this circle.
We all follow our own paths at our own time and pace.
Move forward. With the tides. With ovulation.
With the setting sun. With the birth of a new life.

This was the text to my performance art piece of beating a clock to death, smashing it with a hammer before Sadie Lune's ceremony/ritual for Beltane and to create a new life, to become a parent with Oberon. It was inspired by a series of questions that Sadie asked me several months ago for her project about biological clocks, fertility and wanting to be a mother. I felt like I completed that speech, as my gift. She and I have created art side by side many times in many ways over the years. I am blessed to have her in my life and feel even more blessed to have witnessed the creation of a new life, between she and Oberon.

Finally, I have a job. After receiving unemployment for nearly two years I am working a full-time job. Thanks everyone for all of the love and assistance I received during these long, lean times.

In other amazing miracles, my Aunt Becky is in the process of a full recovery. Less than a month ago she was struck by a car in her driveway. Her teenage son witnessed it. After multiple broken bones, including skull, vertebra fractures and brain bleeds, this week she came out of her coma speaking full sentences with no apparent memory loss and moving all of her limbs, fingers and toes. Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes.

"Follow your heart".
I can't see how that can go wrong for anyone. If you follow your heart, it will either lead to your own heartaches (and totally worth it) or total love (also worth it). Give all that you got. It should never be enough for anyone.

Getting a late start on my blog about the New Year.
And, I forgot to post BEFORE reading at Perverts Put Out last Saturday (1/8/11).
I read a brand new epic erotic poem, then performed a striptease and tassel twirl to honor Gypsy Rose Lee on her 100th Birthday (RIP).
No thanks to Glenn Beck for mentioning this event on his Fox News program, thus a SOLD OUT show! Big thanks to Guy, Lori and Simon for inviting me to perform.

The depression over the holidaze has lifted, but have not booked myself for burlesque until March. Without a job, I don't have the money to buy new costume pieces or to go to the fabric store for rhinestones, fringe or other materials. Also, I don't have video footage available to present to apply to the burlesque festivals (nor the applications fees) this year. If anyone has footage of my performances during 2010, please let me know. However, I certainly don't need a costume for Naked Girls Reading, so I am very pleased to announce...

I will probably be there every day throughout the festival. The festival is in its 9th year, and I haven't missed one yet! Thanks to Eddie Muller- the Czar of Noir, Anita Monga, Alan K. Rode and the rest of their staff and crew for putting this together again.

December 5, 1996
I was in a serious car accident and each day since then I have celebrated being alive, by dancing, performing or just letting my friends know the story of how close I came to dying and survived.

Unknown to me, the driver of the car was drunk. There were a total of 7 of us in his Toyota Corolla. Everyone (except the driver) was injured. I had the most life threatening. I had been in the front seat, sitting on my date's lap. I smashed the windshield with my forehead, but never lost consciousness.

17 broken ribs, a punctured lung (right), a collapsed lung (left), a bruised heart, a lot of nerve damage in my back, my right side, my right arm, my right hand and my right breast was very misshaped and crumpled. I was on a respirator in Intensive Care for 4 days, had chest tubes and a total of 2 weeks in the hospital, and spent another 2 weeks at my mothers.

I was unable to lift anything, go up/down stairs, get out of bed, take a shower (forget a bath), or even laugh for a very long time. My muscles and nerves were torn where the bones were broken. My diaphragm didn't work because of the lung and rib damage and I nearly died when I did try to laugh. I couldn't inhale after breathing out a belly laugh.

Each year on the anniversary I try to book a performance.
Today is no exception.

November marks my entry to a new year. On the 24th I will be 42.

I have been supporting the West Memphis Three since 1996, after learning about this situation from Danny Bland and The Supersuckers. I have organized several benefits, house parties and other means of creating awareness and support over the years. I am absolutely ecstatic with this phenomenal news! Thanks to Anje Vela for her tireless work on this case too.

Arkansas State Supreme Court Decision

I recently had the love affair of a lifetime. Spending every waking moment (and practically no sleeping moments) feeling so much love, hearing it in every word and receiving it in every gesture. I am filled with gratitude to have had this experience.
What the future holds with this, I don't care to guess. The affair is definitely on hiatus, and maybe even for this lifetime. We have shared many lifetimes together already. Whether we come together again or not, I continue moving forward.
(On a side note, I am at my thinnest in 14 years, losing over 3 inches on my waist alone this past month.)

September, you're halfway gone and I hardly knew ya.
A lot of activity in my personal life, and cleaning out my psychic closet takes a lot of work, time and energy.
Filling my nights with music and friends, filling my days with crafting and writing.
I'm writing again! It's been years.
So, with this shift of life comes a shift of where you can find me around town.

August! I made it!
Those three words seem to be a regular theme as I live day by day, financially, artistically and with gratitude.
My cross-country trek was long, hard and so worth being dirt poor for weeks and weeks in order to be part of the AMAZING Toronto Burlesque Festival, Burlesque-A-Pades Tour, have both my mother and sister in the audience in Columbus and spend time with family and friends.

I have been sanctioned by Satan’s Angel to teach her techniques, and she taught me how she makes her tassels with fringed tassels and spinners. I will be teaching you how to make replicas of her handiwork. They work like a charm for me and put less stress on breast tissue than plain fringe tassels. Plus, you can change out your tassels for when you perform more than one routine a night. I will bring all necessary materials, unless you want to work on a specific look for your routine then bring your own. You walk away with new pasties and two sets of tassels.

I am so excited to provide this opportunity to the burlesque scene and to such a great, film-loving community in the Bay Area.

I am so very proud of all of the filmmakers that have chosen to put a spotlight on burlesque and all of the amazing talent within our community.

And, I am damn happy to be part of this community and want my love for it to shine through in creating this festival. I hope that it is a success and brings a wide array of films for me to curate and choose. I have been volunteering for film festivals since I moved to San Francisco, and have been an aspiring filmmaker and aficionado of film for many years. Others who have been successfully producing film festivals for years have coached and talked me through it. The theater is renowned for showcasing independent films and a variety of film festivals. There is even PARKING nearby and a bar next door. Annie Sprinkle has said of my events “You are the best producer on the planet!”, so I have confidence I can pull this off. Please help me with your support and submissions.

Michelle L’Amour’s “Superstars of Burlesque” event in Chicago in August features a burlesque film festival and there are other festivals and events that include burlesque films. However, this event is EXCLUSIVELY about documentary film footage created to showcase the burlesque scene. All scenes are acceptable for submission: Neo, Classic or Historic or about a specific person, genre or region. All films should be a documentary and submitted by the filmmaker or, if the film is about you and you have the filmmaker’s permission.

I am feeling a lot of love!
It started during my journey to Los Angeles with Sadie Lune to see the Pee Wee Herman show performed live at Club Nokia. She and I encountered so many beautiful moments of serendipity and gifts from the universe. A really special few days away from the Bay. Here is the set of photos from our Pee Wee Project.

While I was there, I performed at Monday Night Tease - Lili Von Schtupp and Scarlett Letter's weekly show at 3 of Clubs. What a great venue and had such a fun time with the whole cast of performers.

MY BIRTHDAY!!
November 24th.
My mother brought me into the world lickety-split first thing in the AM after only a half-hour of labor. She walked in and I came right out, ready to start taking names for the guest list and hosting the party in true Sagitarrius fashion. I count the nuns at the hospital my first fans.

I am going to Ohio for Thanksgiving and to celebrate some birthdays. My dad is turning 65 and my niece is turning 17. We are all born a week apart. Maybe I'll take a rest in December to look for a job, go to a museum, have a date..well, I can dream, right? Birthday wishes still to be granted.

I am now married to the sea.

I have recently returned from going to Europe for my first time (without parental guidance, that is).
First stop Zurich. I performed at the Museum of Porn in Art, which is attached to Edi's Weinstube right in old town Zurich.

On Friday, August 21st - the Alchemical Transsexual art exhibit for Steven Johnson Leyba opened, and I performed as part of the opening. I twirled fire tassels with two different routines. In between the acts, the lovely attendees were viewing some of the porn featured at the cinema. Then, I jumped back on stage, blue screen behind me to light 'em up again. There was one helluva heat wave going on - inside and outside of the venue too.

Thanks to my hostess Zoe Staehli for treating me like an absolute queen. I definitely want to return to Zurich for another slice of heaven. Thanks to Steven for introducing me to Zoe, and asking me to entertain at his opening.

A few days later, I took the train down to Florence, Italy right through the Swiss Alps, briefly stopping in Milan. I found a very cheap hostel (about $25 US a night) that provided dinner, dessert, breakfast, wine and free wi-fi (not to mention has the cutest white boxer puppy, Fiona - and excellent company and information from the hosts).

Because I went on a Monday (when all the museums are closed), I only had enough time to see one gallery - The Uffizi. This extraordinary museum has hosted timeless and iconic images for hundreds of years (open to the public in 1765) . Once I got past feeling honored at being able to stand in the same place in front of Botticelli's Birth of Venus for the past 245 years (painted in 1485), I was speechless at the beauty (and enormity). It is no wonder it is such a well-known painting.
Then, I zipped on over to Venice on a train.

When people say that Venice is the most beautiful city in the world, they aren't kidding. Despite being there during the high season, when everyone in Europe is on vacation, and during the same heat wave that passed through Zurich and Florence (did I mention that it was over 100F in Florence?), I was slack-jawed at the image of the canals, boats, and old buildings. And, there was a rainbow in the sky as my vaporetto propelled from the train station, around to my stop.

Trying to schlep my luggage over hill and dale (or rather bridges and canals) over and over again to find the correct tiny street to my hostel was a bit much, but I was soon rewarded for my efforts by being placed in The Wedding Room. My very own king size bed with two windows, an oscillating floor fan and I think I was the only one staying in that building. I had the whole little cottage to myself for less than $40 US a night!

Next door to my room was the most amazing trattoria. I dined at the terrace on black pasta with poached sea bass, and I was given the LOCAL price (rather than the tourist price posted on the menu). One of the best meals of my life!

Falling asleep @ 11:30, I awoke ready to go hit the town at 5:30am! An absolute first for this night owl. Wanting to find my friends, I went to Sadie and Lian's hotel at 7am to leave a note (I wouldn't dare wake another night owl at such a ghastly hour), then to a cafe and over to find Annie and Beth. I went back and forth between the Giardini district and San Marco Square a few times that day, my place in the middle near the Arsenale district.

Finally all connections were made, and the searing sense of loneliness left me. I felt like I was floundering a bit those first few hours, wanting familiar contacts. I ended up staying up very late that night working on the program with Annie Sprinkle for her and Beth's An EcoSexual Blue Wedding To The Sea. A Love Art Laboratory performance art wedding that took place on Friday, August 28th outside between the Fear Society and Unconditional Love Pavilions (These pavilions are part of the Venice Biennale, and contained art exhibits for the event).

On Thursday before the wedding all collaborators gathered for first a rehearsal, then a photo session. It was lovely walking through the streets of Venice in my blue costume (thanks again to Miss Honey Penny for making the outer skirt). Waiters stopped serving dinners to walk towards me and say, "Buona Sera". The sun began to set, and the light in the sky was absolutely amazing. All of the shades of blue of our costumes reflecting the hues of the sky and sea. We were art in motion.

I became friends with so many of the other collaborators. Meeting these lovely performance artists from all over the US, Europe and outside was incredible - especially since we would all end up married to the sea - together.

The wedding was exactly as I had imagined it. We were on the shores of the Adriatic Sea, sitting next to a historic pissoir. This particular public urinal has been declared historical because of the sailors that would have sex with prostitutes inside the urinal. Arriving in Venice after being at sea, they would disembark at this site and go inside the pissoir with the courtesans. How appropriate that Annie Sprinkle would have an ecosexual wedding and get married to Elizabeth Stephens and the sea, her lovers, at this very sight.

After the wedding we had a lengthy procession through the city, singing, all decked out in our wedding costumes, bringing attention from tourists and locals, and dined under the stars until Annie and Beth and members of the wedding party were whisked away in a gondola.

I met up with them later (along with many of the other collaborators) for the final vows and throwing the rings into the sea. Annie's emotional speech about her personal connection to the water (where she saw her first penis - and then gave her first blowjob), how much it meant to her to be married to it, and then talking about how much we need to help the sea - was deeply moving.

The purpose of the wedding has several parts to it:
1. Be Sex-Ecologists. Consider the Earth your lover. She is no longer Mother Earth taking care of each of us, she is now our lover, one that we should also be taking care of, giving our love and support to. She is in need, and needs us to stop and do what we can to continue her survival.
2. We are Water. Every form of life is mostly made of water. We would not exist without its basic chemical composition. For a healthy existence, to sustain life, we must be accountable and do what we can to assure it continues to create life.
3. The Sea Needs You. All of the water on the earth is in desperate need for our attention and affection. Inland waterways, ground water and the oceans. Islands of plastic the size of Texas, toxicity deforming and changing aquatic life, global warming devouring species and changing landscapes, etc. are just some of the reasons that a lifestyle change must take place with all of us.
4. The Throat Chakra: This is one of the aspects that the wedding celebrated. This chakra also represents the color blue and communication, thus the Blue Wedding. Earlier in June, Annie and Beth married the Sky in a ceremony in Oxford, England.
5. Devote yourself to making a change. We made vows that included "'til death do us part". This includes returning from the wedding with that love and earnest devotion to spread a message to have others help.

Saturday, September 19th is International Coastal Clean Up Day. You can sign up here to find out where you can go to make a change for our future. Even if you are in a landlocked area, you can spend an hour or two cleaning up debris on any water's edge, it makes a difference.

On Saturday, after the wedding I went through many of the exhibits of the Biennale with Annie and Beth. We were treated to rain showers and some eclectic art (in other words some was VERY good, some was VERY bad) that afternoon. Afterwards, we met with Jane, Cynthia and Rolf for a snack and a Spritz (a Venetian cocktail).

Beth, Annie, Rolf and I continued to walk along the Grande Canal, stopping short of San Marco Square, in fact, right at the San Zaccaria stop.

We ordered pizzas and watched the sky turn dark. The waiters were wary of the weather and began to clear off all the other tables, fearing the rain was coming back. Then more friends began to arrive. Timi and Margarita joined us during dessert. We were still hoping for more to arrive, but they got lost, which IS what happens in Venice. The residents of Venice are very sweet, they keep telling you, "You're almost there, you're so close, just turn left and then right (or vice versa) and then you'll be there". If I had a Euro for every time I heard that...

Despite having to go back to very primitive means of communication throughout my journey (thank you T-Mobile CSRs, you are absolute dimwits about international connectivity), I still had an amazing time.

There were many things that I missed out on during my journey because of no cellphone service (getting to meet the legendary artist HR Giger at his home, getting to see hordes of Italian men parading into San Marco Square looking to get some after the bars closed, etc.), but as Annie, Beth and Company kept saying, "This is a pilgrimage, a labor of love.". And, the love was palpable. We were all in a state of utter bliss along with the thrills and challenges of communication.

I did make a lot of sacrifices to be part of the wedding, I also received a lot of gifts to make that journey take place, and I reaped spiritual rewards. I felt many ghosts and saw some supernatural activity while in Venice too. I definitely want to return some day, but next time will bring several pairs of comfortable shoes. I highly recommend traveling there, but be prepared for the great physical toll of strolling along the bridges and canals.

Dennis Leary: Fat Bitches

FCC FREE RADIO, when not manned by a DJ, runs automatically on computers. There is an extensive playlist of tracks that have been uploaded by the station manager. This is one of the tracks.

I called up the manager and told him I found it to be totally offensive and that I would not have a radio show on a station that takes the time to upload this track so that it plays in random rotation. Fat bigotry has no place in my life, and I am not going to expend my energy for someone who sees this as "comedy".

I apologize to my future guests for having to cancel our appointment to be on the air, but I hope you can understand my position.

Virginia Suicide, aka Flynn Witmeyer, is a writer, actor, and filmmaker living in San Francisco. In 2007 he directed his first short film, Imp of Satan, which received media accolades for “saving queer horror film from the clutches of mediocre types hell-bent on tearing it down.” (Flavorpill Magazine, September 2007).

He recently directed the feature film Tweaker with an Axe, currently in post-production, for Synchronium Films. Flynn has appeared in over 20 stage productions and worked with notable Bay Area theatre companies such as Pisces Moon Productions and Elastic Future.

He regularly performs as a live cabaret singer and gender illusionist at numerous venues throughout San Francisco, including Red Hots Burlesque (SF Bay-Guardian's "Hottest Happy Hour in the Bay," Fridays @ El Rio), and Cocktailgate (SF Weekly's "Best New Drag Show," Sundays @ Truck Bar).

I have decided to take a break from my show, The Lair of Lady Monster on Pirate Cat Radio.
This comes at a time of transition in my life, and for the Pirate Cat studio. The studio is moving into a new space, and there are no new broadcasts happening until all the brand spanking new equipment and construction is completed. And, I'm going to Los Angeles Feb. 22-24th for a vacation of sorts. My decision to take a break from Pirate Cat is based on what is going on in my personal life, and has no reflection on the staff at the radio station.

On my final broadcast, Saturday (02/09/08), the podcast did not record. I interviewed my friend, the renowned kinky photographer and anthropologist Charles Gatewood to help promote his new photo exhibit, and other projects.

Please check out the exhibit of his Wall Street series at the Robert Tat Gallery, located at 49 Geary Street, Suite 211 in San Francisco. There will be a reception on February 16th from 2-5pm and Charles Gatewood is scheduled to speak at 3:30pm. The exhibit is up until March 29th. Or, you can check out the images online.
